Since the Melbourne Cup first ran in 1861, the event has developed into a social, cultural and sporting icon for Australia. In the lead up to ‘the race that stops a nation’, the Lexus Melbourne Cup Tour is our most anticipated Lexus Encore event of the year and this year’s special evening at Lexus of Adelaide did not disappoint!
Upon arrival, our Lexus Encore guests were welcomed with flowing glasses of GH Mumm and stunning florals from Studio Botanic. Delicious food from Indulgence Food Design and stunning acoustic music by Jess and Dusty set the scene for a very special event.

We were extremely proud to welcome our special guests for the night, racing legends Glen Boss and John Letts OAM, to the stage for an exclusive Q&A hosted by Victorian Racing Club representative, Trish Bourke.
Glen and John regaled the audience with stories from their incredible and inspiring careers which was very entertaining. It was amazing to learn more about their unique experiences winning the Melbourne Cup in years gone by and how the racing industry has evolved over their respective careers.

Each year we are also thrilled to give our guests the money-can’t-buy opportunity to hold and be photographed with the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
The gold for the 2022 Lexus Melbourne Cup trophy was acquired via the Evolution Gold mine located in Cowal, NSW and the timber base of the Lexus Melbourne Cup is hand turned from Jarrah Wood.
The Cup was crafted by Pallion under the ABC bullion brand, with the trophy’s 44 pieces being hand welded. It took 250 hours to produce and will be valued at $275,000 AUD.

As well as having the opportunity to hold this year’s Lexus Melbourne Cup, our guests were very excited to meet Glen Boss and John Letts OAM and share their love of horse racing and of course, the Lexus Melbourne Cup.
